When Should You Take the Casper Test?
The right timing depends on your application cycle:
For MD/DO applicants (AMCAS/AACOMAS):
- AMCAS opens in May, with most schools reviewing secondaries July–September
- Aim to test in June or early July so scores arrive before secondary deadlines
- Taking it in May is even safer if you're applying to highly competitive programs
For nursing, PA, and pharmacy applicants:
- Deadlines vary widely by program
- Check your specific schools' requirements — some need scores by October, others as late as January
General rule: Take Casper 6–8 weeks before your earliest school deadline. Never leave it to the last window — if there's a technical issue or registration problem, you'll have no backup.

Casper Test Dates: Scheduling Tips
Book early. Popular dates sell out — especially summer windows before the AMCAS cycle heats up. Register as soon as your target date opens.
Pick a time that suits your peak performance. If you're a morning person, take it in the morning. Casper requires sustained focus for 65–85 minutes, and mental fatigue matters.
Avoid scheduling right after a stressful event. If you have a big exam, interview, or personal obligation the day before, push your Casper date by a few days.
Check your equipment before registering. You'll need a working webcam, microphone, and stable internet. Test these at least a week in advance — technical issues on test day cannot be remedied.
When Are Casper Scores Released?
Score reports are typically released 3 weeks after your test date. Acuity Insights sends an email notification when your scores are processed and ready to distribute.
Your quartile is sent directly to programs you designated — you do not self-report it. Schools see only your quartile (1st through 4th), not your raw score.
Can you retake Casper in the same cycle? No. You can only take Casper once per application cycle. If you retake the following year, your previous scores do not carry over.
